NATIONAL COMISSION OF TURKMENISTAN FOR UNESCO

“The Turkmen people are widely known for their great art, exemplary customs and unique cultural heritage. Turkmen culture has made a worthy contribution to the development of world culture. We will continue to work on improving the sphere of national culture, thorough study, protection and popularization of national heritage in the world, as well as take measures for the careful preservation and study of objects of historical and cultural heritage, restoration of historical and cultural monuments. In addition, we will carry out work aimed at increasing the number of objects in order to include them in the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Mankind.”

As I understand at my installation on 11 November 2025, the Director-General and the Secretariat exist above all to serve the Member States and, through them, their peoples. I will work to ensure open and constructive dialogue with all, and strengthen cooperation within UNESCO and across the UN family to build an inclusive, agile and resilient Organization.I want to reaffirm my commitment to working closely with the Government of Turkmenistan, including through the renewal of our joint Action Plan and implementation of agreed programmes, to advance our shared multilateral values and build a UNESCO that truly serves the People
